ANNA FERRER, PIANO
Born in Girona (Spain) and forming part of a fifth generation of an outstanding family of musicians.
Her academic qualifications were completed in Girona and Barcelona Consevatories, finishing with high levels in piano and chamber music and achieving the highest marks and awards. Later she carried out her perfection studies under Emmanuel Ferrer, Roberto Bravo, Edith Fisher, Paul Badura-Skoda and Luiz de Moura Castro, wich whom she has manteined an intense pedagogical relationship.
She performs regulary in chamber music recitals with such recognized performers as Igor Frolov, Claudi Arimany, Maxence Larrieu, András Adorján, Gernot Winischhofer, Massimo Mercelli, Francois-Michel Rignol, Thierry Huillet, Eugen Mantu, Maria Dolors Aldea,Uma Isamat, Rosa Mateu, Mirela Zafiri etc., and as a solist with several prestigious orchestras such as the Bucarest Chamber Orchestra, The Vivaldi Chamber Orchestra, The Artur Rubinstein Symphonic Orchestra, The Mediterranean Camerata Orchestra, The Moscow Camerata Orchestra, The Torun Symphonic Orchestra, The Bursa Symphonic Orchestra,... She has performed in diferent countries incluiding France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Luxemburg, Poland, Portugal, Turkie, Austria and Spain, participating in the most prestigious Festivals.
She has recorded for diferent radio and television broadcasters like TVE, TV3, Canal Sur, TDC, TV Mediterráneo, TV Galicia, Catalunya Radio, The Fonoteca Històrica de Catalunya and serves as editor for the German Record Label Lambdona and Goodlife Records.
At the same time she has participated in outstanding pedagogical activities as an official for the Department of Piano at the Girona Conservatoty with various students who have been awarded in several international piano competitions. She is a member of the Jury for the Madrid International Piano Competition and Alcoy Interpretation Award. As a professor, she colaborates with Luiz de Moura Castro and Igor Frolov in diverses courses for the piano and chamber music.
ROSA MATEU, Soprano
Rosa Mateu was born in Vilassar de Mar (Barcelona), and studied in the Conservatori de Musica del Liceu of Barcelona under Carmen Bustamante. She has received master classes from several outstanding singers and teachers, recently with Lorraine Nubar and Dalton Baldwin.
Rosa Mateu is known to the Spanish and international audience for her high-quality expressive and timbrically rich voice. Her exquisite musicality allows easy adaptation to diverse styles and roles. Her performances in Europa, Russia, United States of America and South America have been highly praised by both public and musical critics.
She has centered her activities in two directions: as a lied singer and in opera performances. In the former, she has interpreted both Catalan and Spanish song music and given first performances of young composers such as Valls, Bertran,Turull, Humet, Gols, Guinovart, Mesa or Turull accompanied by the American pianist MacMacclure. In the later, her flexibility and powerful voice has enabled to interpret on stage very different opera roles such as "Condesa de Almaviva" in Le Nozze di Figaro, "Donna Elvira" in Don Giovanni, "Giovanna Seymur" in Anna Bolena ,"Violetta" de Traviata, "Santuzza" in Cavalleria Rusticana…In the Great Theater of Liceu, in Barcelona, she performed main roles in operas as Montsalvatge´s VOCE IN OFF, as well as "Prilepa" in Dame Pique and "Flora" in Traviata. She was required by Xavier Montsalvatge himself to perform, for the first time, his opera BABEL 46. Rosa Mateu usually works her operistic repertoire with the pianist Marco Evangelisti.
She has recently performed in Russia, where she interpreted the role of "Micaela" in Bizet´s Carmen and a recital of Spanish Music in the commemoration of the foundation of the city of Saint Petersburg.
She has participated in various homages to the Catalan composer Xavier Montsalvatge in Italy, United States, Ucraina and Colombia.
In relation to her symphonic repertoire, Rosa Mateu has participated in the "Invocaciones al Crucificado", of Xavier Montsalvatge, Mahler´s 2nd y 4th symphonies, Shostakovich´s 14th symphony, Mozart and Verdi´s Requiem´s, performed in music halls as Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Palau de la Musica Catalana, Auditorio de Oviedo…
Recently, she performed with Jaume Aragall and the Symphonic Orchestra at the Great Theater of Liceu a recital of several opera arias an duetts.
She has traveled several times to New York, where she gave the world´s premiere of Xavier Montsalvatge´s "Invocaciones al Crucificado" and several song by Gerhard. In 2002 she sang Xavier Montsalvatge´s songs in Elebash Recital Hall, and in 2005 she has given a recital of Catalan Music in New York´s Florence Gould Hall.
